Joseph A. Bertino of Winthrop passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on April 23, 2024. He was 83 years old. Born in Winthrop, he was the beloved son of the late Mary (Iozzo) and Carmello Bertino. A resident of Winthrop for over 60 years, he worked as a manager in electronics for BLH prior to his retirement. He was a life member of the Winthrop Yacht Club, a Town Meeting Member, member of the Point Shirley Association and a volunteer with the local Boy Scouts. He was also an avid fisherman and traveled extensively to his favorite spots.
He was the devoted husband of Brenda (Beattie) and the loving father of Joannie Singarella and her husband Cesare of Winthrop, Michael Bertino and his wife Robin of Winthrop and Brenda Hunter and her husband Morgan of Hopkington. Dear brother of Annette Bertino of Winthrop, Esther Bertino of Winthrop, Rose Bertino of Peabody and the late Carmen Bertino. Cherished grandfather of Ashley, Kaitlin, Ava, Kiley, Michael and Reese. Beloved brother-in-law of Norma Gobiel and Joan Pitts. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 12:00 PM. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
