Thomas Vargus Obituary

Thomas Francis Vargus, 78, of Debary, Florida, formerly of Peabody, Winthrop and East Boston, passed away at the Halifax Health Hospice after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the devoted husband of Darlene (Anderson) with whom he shared 45 years.

He was born in East Boston, MA on October 16, 1946 to James and Ethel Vargus (Ibraham). Thomas (Tom) graduated from East Boston High School class of 1963. After graduation he got married and started his family and worked for several companies throughout the Boston area in the mail service industry until he started New England Mail Service that he owned and operated until he retired and moved to Florida, where he enjoyed golfing and rooting on his favorite New England Sports teams, spending time with his family and friends and most recently spending time with his only great granddaughter. Tom could not sit still for long during his retirement and he decided to open Lighthouse Mailing Service that he owned and operated for 12 years. He then went to work for Abbott Communications as a consultant until his death.

Tom cared and provided for his family, he was a gift to us all and will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas Vargus, Jr, and his wife Cheila of Everett, Timothy Vargus and his wife Joann of Winthrop, Kimberly DeAngelico and her husband Vincent (Sonny) of Jacksonville, Florida and Michelle Trefry and her husband Thad of Peabody. His grandchildren, Nicholas, JulieAnne and her husband Dan, Dena, Dylan, Amanda, Timothy, Jr., Lara, Jonathan and Guilherme and his cherished great granddaughter Sunnie-Marie.

A celebration of life will take place at a later time.
